A Message
from the Vice President -
Thoughts on Partnership |
|
By Dr. Juan C. González |
|
The
Division of Student Affairs is dedicated to the belief that students will
graduate from Georgetown University as well rounded individuals based on
the Jesuit tradition of cura personalis, Latin for “care of the whole
person.” It is the division’s desire to help students move on from
Georgetown with integrity and a sense of caring, with a commitment to
making proper moral and ethical decisions, and with a lifetime commitment
to service and leadership. We in Student Affairs believe we can help our
students achieve these high standards by working in close partnership with
other university efforts. We see ourselves as fostering and contributing
to the creation of a total learning environment: a learning atmosphere
inside as well as outside the classroom. |

Building Strong Contacts Helps Students with Job and Internship
Searches
|
| By Sylvia E. Robinson |
|
As parents, alumni or faculty members, many students seek our advice
and assistance as they actively search for job or internship opportunities
in this competitive job market. National data says that the job market for
2003 graduates will be down 13 percent from peak hiring in 2000. As
director of the MBNA Career Education Center, parents and alumni call me
to ask,” What can I do to help?”

Student Health Center Relocates to New Location
|
| By
Dr. James C. Welsh |
|
The Student Health Center (formerly Student Primary Care Clinic) moved
into its newly renovated location on March 12, 2003 during Spring
Break. The center is now located on the ground floor of Darnall Hall,
in a location more convenient to students. Though the size of the
clinic remains the same, much planning went into a redesign to improve
patient flow and privacy.

Learning Where You Live |
| |
By
Todd Harris |
|
|
There
are many characteristics about a Georgetown education that are
valuable. Certainly the academic rigor and accomplished faculty serve
to create a stimulating intellectual environment. The Jesuit values
and care for the whole person are also fundamental components to a
Georgetown experience. Another distinctive characteristic of a
Georgetown education is the residential experience.
