Riding the
Silence: Recalling the Importance of Being Still in Busy, College
Lives |
| By
Rev. Ridgeway Addison |
|
Although it's not easy to admit, the truth is I
really "get around" with my students. What I mean to say is that due
to the tri-fecta nature of my appointment (as a Protestant chaplain,
chaplain in residence, and occasional theology professor) with
Georgetown University, I work closely with many bright, interesting,
interested, and especially driven students in and through a variety of
settings and mediums. |

Principled Leadership
|
| By
Patrick J. McArdle |
|
If one were to attempt an honest
assessment of the state of college athletics today, certainly it
would have to include the emphasis on money, the preoccupation with
professionalism and winning it all, a media that is both
overly-scrutinizing and indifferent, shifting rules of conduct and
the newest of intercollegiate sports: conference raiding. |

Roommate Experience
|
| By
Stephanie J. Lynch |
|
Now
that your son or daughter has unpacked the last picture of the
family pet, life is hopefully settling into some routine and great
opportunities. As the pressures of academics and other factors mix
with several people living in a confined space, there is potential
for roommate conflicts to arise. Conflicts can arise for a number of
reasons. Perhaps the roommate borrowed some clothes without asking,
has the music on or people over when the other person is trying to
study, may keep the room either too hot or too cold, or may be
talking on the phone late at night. |
