Student Conduct

The Student Code of Conduct guide students on policies and sanctions regarding alcohol, illegal drugs, harassment and sexual misconduct, student privacy and security as well as intellectual property rights and off-campus housing.

Illegal Drugs D.C. Law

Drug policy states controlled substances are prohibited on campus, violators are subject to fines and imprisonment including those who possess/sell drug paraphernalia items.

University Alcohol & Other Drugs

Students are to follow legal drinking laws. Alcohol is prohibited in public spaces unless approved by the university.Possession of alcohol paraphernalia is prohibited in university housing.

Harassment Policy

Sexual harassment and discrimination is prohibited and defined by unwelcome sexual advances or favors that may effect advances in academia or employment, or creates a hostile atmosphere.

Outlines discipline system procedure for students filing complaints, violations, resolutions and sanctions, hearing boards, appeals and disciplinary records.

Ethos Statement

Membership in the Georgetown community expects students to follow the ideals of integrity, respect for others, free exchange of ideas and safety.

Student Conduct System

Students breaking university policy will face the student discipline system to deal with codes of misconduct, more serious cases will be forwarded to the Judicial Hearing Board.

Computer System Acceptable Use Policy

Technology is available for educational knowledge but is to be used responsibly in regards to safety of hardware, privacy, security, legal practices such as plagiarism.

Consensual Sexual Relationships

Consensual Relationships between senior & junior members are discouraged but should be reported if applicable. Advances by senior members can be viewed as assault or rape.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

FERPA establishes universities must provide written policies and procedures regarding school education records and privacy.

Intellectual Property

Ownership of inventions and patents belong to Georgetown if made through a sponsored project or use of university funds or equipment. University Office of Technology Licensing will aid in patent search, copyright and licensing.

Off-Campus Orientation

Off-Campus Orientation Policy requires all undergrads living off campus to attend the Off-Campus Orientation.

Smoking Policy

Smoking Policy designates that cigarette smoke is prohibited indoors and in public areas.

Student Right-to-Know-Act and Campus Security Act

Information regarding student graduation and enrollment rates are a student's right to know.
