Hoya Family Newsletter: August 27, 2026

Hello Hoya Families,

Happy New Year!! We did it!

My friends, it is so thrilling to have students back on campus.  We’re back in business, and the students are off to find classes on a campus where they thought they knew their way around…until they encounter the ICC elevators.

We’ve donned regalia, picnicked, and a group even had a celebration at my apartment in LXR to mark the new elevator. Most importantly, our entering students have shared that experience of newness with our new president. What a joy to share Georgetown and all that makes us so special with President Peñalver.

You know what’s cool about being one of the old folks around here (a privilege I share with our seniors and countless colleagues)? The truth of Georgetown remains. We are a place of transformation and values. That is never more clear to me than when we welcome our newbies.

FYI: EllyXR events attached. Everyone is welcome (whether or not you live in LXR).  Feel free to share with your Hoyas.

All good things,

Dr. Eleanor JB Daugherty, EdD
Vice President for Student Affairs
