Hoya Family Newsletter: April 9, 2026
Hello Hoya Families,
Thank you for your encouraging feedback on my utter lack of grammar in my last newsletter note.
We’re starting to imagine the close of the school year. The past few weeks were a moment of interfaith celebration for many of our faith traditions. Following that, the lawns start getting pretty (yes, the students will see more of Healy and Copley lawns next week) and graduation approaches.
As families, this is a time to invite a pause. Your time is not “running out.” The admissions letter we sent started a commitment to each other that lasts for a lifetime. The physical time we get to spend together is a beginning, not an hourglass. I wouldn’t be surprised if you are on the receiving end of some calls about internships, course selections, group formation, etc.
I would ask us all to find a moment to savor the present. Part of savoring means referring students to the many places designed to respond to and nurture those questions (Cawley Career Center, RAs and advising deans are some quick references that come to mind). Sometimes everything you need is found by seeing what’s right around you (and putting down Insta…).
Enjoy the savoring.
All good things,
Dr. Eleanor JB Daugherty, EdD
Vice President for Student Affairs
