**The list of resources below is current as of April 2026

  • If you are registered for summer classes or a DC internship, university based summer housing is available for a fee.
  • Findhelp.org lists social services resources (including housing and childcare) and charitable options via zip code. 
  • Apps like NextDoor and Rover often provide free housing in exchange for house or pet sitting.
    • Please Note: Under F-1 and J-1 visa regulations this option is not available to international students. Exchanging house/pet sitting or other services for free housing is considered work and could jeopardize your visa status.
  • Georgetown’s Off-Campus Housing Website
  • If you’re a 55 H Street resident, contact the local Marriott Hotel.
  • On craigslist (video tutorial here!), beware scammers though! Never send a deposit without meeting the person.
  • Co-living spaces (e.g.Oslo, Nest DC, i5 Union Market) are typically cheaper than a studio – and Union Market is such a cool area!  15 Union Market rentsbedrooms for only $1,000/month.
  • Thompson-Markward Hall is only $1,330/month and available to women between ages 18-34; TMH’s mission is to “promote the academic and professional success of young women. It is in the heart of DC and offers safe, affordable, convenient housing for women who are working, attending school or interning in our nation’s capital.”
    • You can rent space here for as short a time as two weeks!
  • HostelWorld has a ton of options for both single rooms with en suite bathrooms and groups.
  • DC Housing Search shares information affordable housing resources. There are restrictions based on income, and full-time students are not eligible. This resource could be beneficial for part-time, graduate, and non-traditional students.
  • SpareRoom provides openings for Co-living/rooms for rent in DC. Options are more oriented towards students/young professionals.
  • Cirtu is a roommate finding service where you can search for openings or list openings in your current off campus space.
  • Georgetown students can receive a 30% discount off of online rates at Placemak’r’s 2500 Penn location. Please use the promo code “GTU2026” at checkout. Please note, this discount is only available at the 2500 Penn location.
  • There is also a Facebook group for GU sublets, apartments, etc. that students have found to be helpful in the past.
