Dr. Ballou is a skilled psychologist and administrator with extensive training and experience in the areas of clinical counseling, non-clinical case management and substance abuse prevention, education, and treatment. Dr. Ballou has worked in various student affairs offices within higher education, including CAPS at University of San Francisco, alcohol and other drug prevention at Virginia Tech and most recently in the Office of Residential Life at Fordham University. In the 7 years working at Fordham University, she oversaw the substance abuse prevention program, managed the mental health and medical-related re-entry process, and facilitated non-clinical case management services for students on the Rose Hill campus. Dr. Ballou is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (’10-’13), serving 3 years as a Youth and Community Development Volunteer in Bulgaria. In her free time, she loves to travel, explore new hiking spots in the DMV, and is an avid true crime documentary and podcast fan.

Konadu “Kone” Gyamfi serves as an Assistant Director in the SOS Office, specializing in graduate student support. Before joining Georgetown in 2023, Kone’s career spanned academia, with roles as an assistant professor and in educational research and assessment. Her academic journey includes earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology, followed by a master’s and Ph.D. in education. Beyond her professional pursuits, Kone finds pleasure in reading, writing, and indulging in documentaries.

Sarah has been an intern with Student Outreach and Support since August 2023. She is enrolled in Georgetown’s Higher Education Administration Masters Program and plans to graduate in December 2024. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice at California State University, Sacramento. Before deciding to shift careers and begin graduate school, Sarah worked for the State of California for almost 9 years which included Folsom State Prison, CA State Board of Pharmacy and CA Department of Health Care Services. She looks forward to supporting students during their college journey and leaving a positive impact in the field of higher education. 

Sarah is married with two young children. When not studying, she enjoys spending time by the ocean with family, homeschooling her children, playing board games, and reading.
